Issues After Upgrading
You are not required to rebuild your data files. Pervasive.SQL is completely backward compatible in respect to data file formats supporting file formats 5.x, 6.x, and 7.x.
This said, it is important to note that there are certain Pervasive.SQL features and functionality that will be unavailable if you do not rebuild your data files to the version 8 format.
The Pervasive.SQL features that are available only with version 6 file format and higher are:
- Performance improvement
- Transaction Logging and Durability if your data file contains a unique key
- International Sort Rule (ISR) support
The Pervasive.SQL features that are available only with the version 7 file format and higher are:
- 64 GB file size limit
- Transaction Logging and Durability if your data file does not contain a unique key
