Improved Installation Programs

The installation programs for the following products have been updated in this release to use Windows Installer technology:

• Windows NT Server
• NetWare Server
• Workgroup
• Win32 Client requester

Note
These new installation programs are not related to the security features in this release. The purpose of the new installation programs is to improve the installation process and the ease with which Pervasive.SQL can be embedded within other applications.

Upgrading from Previous Releases

The installation programs for Pervasive.SQL V8.5 support upgrading from previous releases. However, uninstall the beta or release candidate before attempting to install this release.

You can use the Pervasive System Analyzer (PSA) utility to remove Pervasive components from a machine. See Pervasive.SQL User's Guide for documentation on PSA.

The procedures for installing this release are documented in the Getting Started with Pervasive.SQL manuals that correspond to the product you are installing. See the following for the procedures to install this product:
